What we collect
Squish does not collect any personal information.
We use the following anonymous data to improve the app:
- App usage analytics via PostHog (anonymized): which presets you choose, how long compressions take, what failures occur. No personal information, no video content, no file names.
- Crash reports via PostHog: stack traces and device info (model, OS version, available RAM/storage) when the app crashes.
This version of Squish does not show advertisements and does not offer any in-app purchase. If a future version introduces advertisements or paid features, this policy will be updated before that change ships.
What we do NOT collect
- Your videos. Compression happens entirely on your device. We never see your video content.
- Your name, email, phone number, or any account information.
- Your location.
- Your contacts, photos (other than the one you explicitly pick), or other apps.
Permissions
Squish requests minimal permissions:
- INTERNET โ to send anonymous usage analytics to PostHog.
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS โ to show compression progress when the app is backgrounded.
Children
This app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect any data from them.
Your rights
- You can request deletion of any data associated with your device by emailing the contact address below. Because we do not collect personal identifiers, you will be asked to provide a PostHog distinct ID (visible in the in-app Settings → Privacy panel in v1.x).
- Opting out of analytics will be available in Settings → Privacy in a future version.
